Not only is Whistler on it's ninth or tenth day straight of sunny skies, but the temperatures have been record setting warm. At 3pm this afternoon, the temperature in the Alpine was 53°F!! (11°C)
I've never seen it this warm in the month of January. It's crazy... but we're all soaking it in, whether it be on boards or on bikes.
I got up the hill later in the afternoon and met up with Sean & Libby. We were going to run over to 7th Heaven to spend the rest of the day in the sun but the queue for the Peak 2 Peak gondola was out the door. Not wanting to wait in line, we decided to go to Harmony/Symphony instead. As we were buckling in our bindings at the Roundhouse, we literally ran into Matt and Fred and we all hit the Harmony 6-pak.
The snow was spring-like, especially the aspects sitting in the sun all day. We hung out in the Symphony area for a while just soaking up the rays. It was amazing! When we got back to Harmony, we rode down the Saddle and the snow in the bowl was nice and soft. We took a few more laps and on the last lap, we sat at the top of Pony Trail and again, just soaked in the rays and the views. Who would have thought we'd enjoy all this in January? It's crazy.
